Multibet Explained - PesaBettor

A multibet or multiple bet refers to a bet where there is more than one selection. It allows you to make several predictions on a single bet slip. As a bettor, you definitely want a wager that gives you a higher win potential and this is the reason why multibet is a good option. The difference between multibets and accumulator bets is that multibets can give you a win even if some of your predictions are wrong.

If you want to be successful with multibets, you must understand the sport you are betting on and the participating teams. Football betting sites will mainly offer this betting market on most events.  However, before you place a multibet, be sure to study the teams since you must make correct predictions for most bets to secure your win.

Examples of Multibets

For you to understand better how multibets work, check the example below. We have selected four random matches from the English Premier League on which we shall create a multiple bet.

  • First bet: Chelsea vs Tottenham, Chelsea win at odds of 1.50
  • Second bet: Arsenal vs Aston Villa, draw with odds of 2.50
  • Third bet: Newcastle vs Everton, Newcastle win at odds of 1.75
  • Fourth bet: Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest, Nottingham Forest win at odds of 2.00

In the above example, three winning selections from the four will provide a return. Below is how you can calculate the lines and the returns.

The possible winnings with these trebles from 4 multiple bet include:

  • Bet 1 x Bet 2 x Bet 3 = 1.50 x 2.50 x 1.75 = total odds 6.56
  • Bet 2 x Bet 3 x Bet 4 = 2.50 x 1.75 x 2.00 = total odds 8.75
  • Bet 3 x Bet 4 x Bet 1 = 1.75 x 2.00 x 1.50 = total odds 5.25
  • Bet 4 x Bet 1 x Bet 2 = 2.00 x 1.50 x 2.50 = total odds 7.50

You can bet KSH 100 on every combination for a total stake of KSH 400. This means that your total win potential will be KSH 400 x (6.56 + 8.75 + 5.25 + 7.50)= KSH 11,224.

Types of Multi Bets

Multibet is a general word that implies having multiple selections on one bet slip.  However, there are different varieties of multiple bets, as highlighted below.

Win Multis

This option includes multiple win selections. Each selection is multiplied into the subsequent selection until all legs have resulted successfully. This implies that you win or a selection will fail where your multi bet loses.

Win multis also means that every leg of your bet must win for you to collect. The winnings from the first leg will be rolled into the second and third. This sequence continues until all legs have resulted, or until one of your legs has been unsuccessful.

Each Way

This variety of multibets mostly applies to horse races. Here, your stake will be placed on both the Win and the Place. If you are lucky and your horse wins, you get both the win and place dividends. If the horse runs second or third (places), you only get the place odds multiplied by your stake.

Multi Leg Multi Bet

This type describes multis. They many include Win and Place legs in any combination up to the highest number of legs that an engaged bookmaker can allow.

How Many Legs Does a Multi Have?

The number of legs to include in a multi varies depending on the bookmaker you choose. However, most of them tend to allow many legs nowadays. You may find Kenyan sportbooks that allow you up to 25 selections. Some will restrict you to 5 legs, especially if you place a Parlay with the TAB. Note that the more legs you include, the higher the odds which means huge win potential.

How are Multi Bets Resulted?

The legs of a Multibet are executed in a chronological sequence. This means that they are worked out following the order in which every event results, not how they appear is dependent on the way you placed them in your bet slip. For instance, if the second leg of your bet becomes the first to result, it is considered the first leg in your bet.

Bookmakers consider multi legs pending until they have resulted. The event has to conclude where you either win or lose the leg. You can find the details in the pending bets section until a leg loses. At this point, they are moved to the Resulted bets section. All legs will have been completed and won. After the outcome has resulted, the leg appears in your bet history showing that you have either won or lost.
