Kenyan defender Amos Wanjala has shared his excitement and outlined his ambitions after completing a move to Spanish outfit Valencia CF, where he will feature for the club’s reserve side, VCF Mestalla.
Wanjala has spoken publicly for the first time since sealing the transfer, describing the switch as a major step in his young career. The centre-back joins Mestalla after a spell with Athletic Club de Torrellano, a period that allowed him to further adapt to Spanish football while competing in the Tercera Federación.
VCF Mestalla have strengthened their defensive options with Wanjala’s arrival, adding a player who already understands the demands of football in Spain. The Kenyan international is determined to seize the opportunity and establish himself at one of the country’s most historic clubs.
Amos Wanjala Speaks After Sealing Valencia CF Move
“I’m really happy to be at Valencia CF. It’s a very big club with a lot of history,” Wanjala said in an interview following his signing.
“The Valencia CF Academy is excellent. For me, this is a massive opportunity and I want to take full advantage of it. My goal is to grow, improve, and achieve success with Valencia CF.”
Having already settled in and met his new teammates, Wanjala is keen to contribute as quickly as possible. He outlined his playing style, describing himself as a composed and reliable centre-back who is comfortable on the ball and capable of building play from the back.
His previous experience with Torrellano has helped him adjust to the Spanish game, but Wanjala also brings valuable international exposure. He has already represented Kenya at senior level, an achievement he says fills him with pride.
“I’m very proud to represent my country here in Valencia. It means a lot to me, to my family, and to Kenya as a whole,” he said. “My family has supported me every step of the way, and I know they are extremely happy about this move.”
Looking ahead, Wanjala is clear about his mindset and expectations.
“It’s time to deliver. I’m very happy to be here and fully focused on helping the team. I know many Kenyans are watching and supporting me, and that motivates me even more.”
VCF Mestalla currently compete in Segunda RFEF Group 3 and sit 12th in the 18-team standings with 24 points from 20 matches. Their next fixture is against Alcoyano on Saturday, 31 January, at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna training complex.
