The 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in the USA, is set to feature a historical halftime show. Taking inspiration from the popular Super Bowl, FIFA’s president, Gianni Infantino, has confirmed that the event will include a halftime show for the very first time.
The tournament will be held in three countries: the USA, Canada, and Mexico, and the finals will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Infantino broke the news in his Instagram post, which stated, “Confirm the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final.” FIFA will be working with the renowned British Group Cold Play to help produce the World Cup halftime show. It has not been confirmed if the music group will be part of the performing artists, but they will help put together a list of artists.
According to FIFA soccer rules, the halftime show will probably only take 15 minutes, but this rule could be adjusted to accommodate the performance. For instance, the Super Bowl halftime show usually takes 25-30 minutes.
What Artists Will Perform in the FIFA 2026
After his announcement on Instagram, Infantino appeared in an interview with Good Day New York, and the host, Rosanna Scotto, suggested it would be a great idea to include Drake among the artists to perform in the World Cup Halftime Show. Although the FIFA president did confirm this, football fans flooded social media with suggestions.
Some of the highly suggested artists include top artists who performed at Super Bowl halftime, such as;
- Drake
- Kendrick Lamar
- Usher
- Rihanna
- Snoop Dogg
- The Weeknd
- Coldplay’s Chris Martin
