Head coach Benni McCarthy has released his final Harambee Stars squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. With hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup still alive, Kenya faces a decisive double-header against The Gambia and Seychelles on home turf.
The roster combines both homegrown players and international stars. Rising talent Job Ochieng earns his first call-up to the senior team, while 13 members of Kenya’s record-setting CHAN campaign also make the cut. This blend of youth and experience highlights the steady progress of the national side.
The qualifiers are structured in a group format, where each team plays their rivals both home and away. Group winners qualify automatically, while the four best second-placed teams proceed to a playoff round. The playoff champion secures a place in the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.
Kenya currently sits fourth in the group with 6 points, trailing leaders Ivory Coast (16 points), Gabon (15 points), and Burundi (10 points). With two matches at Kasarani, a strong performance could revive qualification hopes. The home crowd is expected to play a vital role, providing the energy and belief the Stars need to overcome the challenge.
For Kenyan fans, these games represent a chance to dream bigger. Every goal, tackle, and cheer could bring the Harambee Stars closer to an unprecedented appearance on football’s grandest stage.
