The winger, who is being monitored by Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy, has attracted glowing praise following his decision to depart Bayern Munich for another Bundesliga side.
Harambee Stars prospect Sadiki Chemwor has received strong recognition for his abilities after completing a switch from Bayern Munich to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 18-year-old wide player has signed his first professional deal with Frankfurt and is set to officially join the club on a free transfer on July 1, 2026, when his current contract with Bayern expires.
Chemwor is expected to begin his time at Frankfurt within the club’s U21 side, which competes in a newly introduced league structure aimed at bridging the gap between academy and senior football.
The young winger is one of several Kenyan prospects based in Germany who McCarthy is closely tracking as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. His move to Frankfurt is seen as a significant step that could accelerate his growth and boost his chances of breaking into the senior national team.
Frankfurt Chief Impressed by Rising Star
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung has spoken highly of Chemwor, expressing strong belief in his long-term potential.
“Sadiki Chemwor is an exceptionally talented player who has received top-level football education,” Hardung said via the club’s official platforms. “We are confident he will continue to develop here. His technical quality, understanding of the game, and mentality point to a very promising future.”
Chemwor arrives at Frankfurt after spending nearly a decade within Bayern’s development system. He joined the Bavarian giants from TSV Milbertshofen at the age of eight and steadily climbed through the ranks, featuring prominently for both the U17 and U19 teams.
Rapid Progress for Kenyan Prospect Abroad
Since the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign, Chemwor has made 55 appearances across Bayern’s youth sides, registering eight goals and providing 12 assists. In the current season alone, he has played 19 matches, scoring twice and assisting five times in elite youth competitions such as the DFB Youth League, UEFA Youth League, and the DFB Cup.
His performances have not gone unnoticed on the international stage. Chemwor has earned five caps for Germany at U16 and U17 levels. With eligibility for Kenya through his father, as well as British citizenship, he remains a multi-national prospect with several international pathways.
Frankfurt view the acquisition as part of a broader strategy focused on developing emerging talent. With his technical ability and strong grounding in elite youth football, Chemwor is widely regarded as one to watch in the coming years.
