A Harambee Stars defender has pointed out the crucial areas Kenya must refine as they prepare to face Grenada in their next FIFA Series playoff match.
Frank Odhiambo reflected on the team’s recent outing against Estonia, offering insight into their mindset heading into the decisive clash. The Gor Mahia centre-back, who earned his senior debut in that encounter, delivered a composed performance as the game finished 1-1 before Kenya fell short in a 5-4 penalty shootout.
With that result behind them, Harambee Stars now turn their attention to Grenada, who are also looking to recover after suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Rwanda. Kenya will be aiming to respond strongly and close out the tournament with a more convincing display.
Odhiambo Emphasizes Consistency and Team Unity
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Odhiambo stressed the importance of building on the positives from the Estonia match, particularly the team’s structure and intensity. He highlighted the need for consistency, noting that maintaining the same level of performance will be key in the upcoming game.
The defender also explained that the match presents an opportunity for the squad to improve cohesion and continue developing their playing style. According to him, steady progress as a unit remains a major focus for the team.
In addition, Odhiambo underlined the importance of a strong relationship between players and the technical bench. He believes that close collaboration within the camp will help unlock the team’s full potential and deliver better results on the pitch.
Focus on Strong Start and Positive Finish
Odhiambo further noted that Harambee Stars must approach the game with confidence and purpose from the opening whistle. He acknowledged the disappointment of losing on penalties but insisted the team is determined to bounce back.
The defender added that the goal is to end the tournament on a high, with improved performances that can inspire confidence among supporters.
“It’s about maintaining the passion and consistency we showed against Estonia. As a team, we need to keep building because this next match is part of our growth process,” he said.
He also emphasized the need for unity within the squad and coaching staff, expressing hope that the team can deliver a strong performance and give fans something to be proud of.
Despite the setback in their previous match, Harambee Stars remain focused on finishing the competition with renewed belief and a positive result.
