Talanta Sports City Nears Completion as Terrace Painting Signals Final Stage Before AFCON 2027

As work edges closer to completion, fresh paint is now covering the terraces of Talanta Sports City Stadium, marking one of the final visual transformations before the venue officially opens. The stadium is set to serve as Kenya’s flagship venue for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

With the March 2026 construction deadline approaching, the once-grey concrete stands are gradually being replaced with bold colours that bring life to the massive three-tier seating structure. The painting process represents a key milestone as the project transitions from heavy construction toward finishing and presentation.

Colourful Terraces Give the Stadium a Distinct Identity

The newly introduced colours across the terraces are not simply decorative. Designers selected the palette to reflect Kenya’s national pride and visual identity. This theme is already visible on the stadium’s exterior, which features eight large shield designs inspired by the Kenyan flag.

Beyond national symbolism, the colour scheme is also intended to improve the stadium’s broadcast presentation. Even when attendance is not at full capacity, the vibrant stands help create the impression of a lively atmosphere during television coverage.

This approach mirrors techniques used in several modern European arenas, where coloured seating and terraces help maintain a visually energetic environment. The result is a stronger psychological impact for players competing on the pitch and fans watching from home.

Final Touches Prepare the Venue for International Standards

Construction teams are applying specialised weather-resistant paint designed to endure the demanding climate of Nairobi, including strong ultraviolet sunlight and seasonal heavy rains.

The finishing process also includes essential safety and navigation features. Clear aisle numbering, emergency pathway markings, and safety demarcations are being carefully installed to ensure the venue complies with the strict regulations required by both FIFA and Confederation of African Football.

Meanwhile, the stadium’s steep bowl design has been engineered to deliver clear sightlines from every seat. Thousands of individual chairs are currently being installed as crews finalize the spectator areas.

Once the terrace painting is complete and the advanced GrassMaster playing surface is laid, Talanta Sports City Stadium will be fully prepared to host major continental matches when the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations arrives.
